How to Install Jami Messenger?

Jami (formerly Ring) is a free and open-source cross-platform software that allows peer-to-peer communication. It was developed by the  Savoir-faire Linux Foundation and became part of the GNU Project in 2016. Jami positions itself as a potential free Skype/Whatsapp replacement.

Installing Jami on Linux:

Follow the below steps to install Jami Messenger on Linuxxdistributions:

Step 1:  Execute the following commands in the terminal

• Ubuntu 20.4:

sudo apt install gnupg dirmngr ca-certificates curl --no-install-recommends
curl -s https://dl.jami.net/public-key.gpg | sudo tee /usr/share/keyrings/jami-archive-keyring.gpg > /dev/null
sudo sh -c "echo 'deb [signed-by=/usr/share/keyrings/jami-archive-keyring.gpg] https://dl.jami.net/nightly/ubuntu_20.04/ jami main' > /etc/apt/sources.list.d/jami.list"
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install jami

• Debian 11:

sudo apt install gnupg dirmngr ca-certificates curl --no-install-recommends
curl -s https://dl.jami.net/public-key.gpg | sudo tee /usr/share/keyrings/jami-archive-keyring.gpg > /dev/null
sudo sh -c "echo 'deb [signed-by=/usr/share/keyrings/jami-archive-keyring.gpg] https://dl.jami.net/nightly/debian_11/ jami main' > /etc/apt/sources.list.d/jami.list"
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install jami

• Fedora 34:

sudo dnf config-manager --add-repo https://dl.jami.net/nightly/fedora_34/jami-nightly.repo
sudo dnf install jami

Step 2: Search “Jami” in the application manager and run the application.

Step 3: We can create a new account or link to an existing one.

Step 4: Now we can start using the application

Installing Jami Messenger on Windows:

Follow the below steps to install the Jami messenger on Windows:

Step 1:  Visit this link and download the latest 64-bit installer.

Step 2: Install the application by agreeing to the terms.

Step 3: Launch the application.

Step 4: We can create a new account or link to an existing one.

Step 5: Now we can start using the application

Installing Jami Messenger on Android:

Follow the below steps to install the Jami messenger on Android:

Step 1: Search “Jami” on the play store and install the application.

Step 2: Open the application.

Step 3: We can create a new account or link to an existing one.
