Give differences between Summer Monsoon and Retreating Monsoon

Monsoon refers to seasonal prevail winds in regions of South and South East Asia, blowing from direction of south-west between months of May and September and bringing heavy rainfalls or from north east between October and April. Two types of monsoon are:

Summer Monsoon

The summer monsoon happens between April and September. It is usually associated with heavy rainfall. After the end of the winter warm and moist air from the southwest Indian ocean blows towards countries like India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Myanmar. This monsoon brings a humid climate and torrential rainfall to these areas. 

Retreating Monsoon

At the time of the October-November month, the southwest monsoon winds become weaker and start to retreat from the skies of north India. This phase is known as the retreating monsoon. The climate at the time of retreating monsoon, skies become clearer and clouds disappear. Severe tropical cyclones emerge from the Bay of Bengal.

Difference between Summer and Retreating monsoon

Retreating Monsoon

1. In summer monsoon winds blow from June to September. In retreating monsoon winds blow from October and November.
2. Moist wind blows Dry wind blows
3. Heavy rainfall occurs. Moderate or no rainfall occurs.
4. It brings rain to almost all parts of the country. It brings rain to only few coastal regions.
5. Higher temperature with higher humidity Higher temperature with lower humidity.
6. the direction of these winds is from southwest. the direction of the wind is from the northeast direction.
7. They blow from sea to land. These winds blow from land to sea.

Answer:

Summer monsoon retreat just because of the weakening of the monsoon tough of low pressure over the Ganga plains due to the southwards movement of the Sun. This season is marked by clear skies and the increase in mercury northern plains.
