The volume of a three-dimensional form is defined as the amount of space it occupies. For a number of reasons, the necessity for fundamental conversion of units has always existed while representing the volume of a shape. Fundamental units are either excessively big or improper for smaller volume values, as the quantity of volume becomes trivial in some circumstances when represented in these units. To represent bigger volumes, a metric system is used, which transforms standard units into smaller measurement units such as inches, milliliters, and cubic yards, among others. It facilitates the acquisition of precision and accuracy in volume value, which aids in the proper depiction of the space occupied by the object.

Cubic foot

A cubic foot is equal to the volume of a cube having each side one foot long. It is represented by the symbol ft3. 1 cubic foot is written as 1 cu.ft or 1 ft3. It is approximately equal to 0.028 cubic meters of capacity.

Cubic yard

A cubic yard is equal to the volume of a cube having each side one yard long. It is represented by the symbol yd3. 1 cubic yard is written as 1 cu.yd or 1 yd3. It is approximately equal to 0.764555 cubic meters of capacity.

Conversion of Cubic Foot to Cubic Yard

The value of 1 cubic foot equals 0.037037 cubic yards. To convert cubic feet to a cubic yard, we have to multiply the given value of cubic feet by a factor of 0.037037. For example, 3 cubic feet are converted into cubic yards as 4 × 0.037037 = 0.111111 cubic yards.

1 cubic foot = 0.037037 cubic yards

Or

n × 1 cubic feet = n × 0.037037 cubic yards

1 cubic foot = 0.037037 cubic yard

12 cubic feet = 0.037037 × 12 cubic yard

12 cubic feet = 0.444444 cubic yards

Problem 3: Convert 25 cubic feet into cubic yards.

Solution:

We know,

1 cubic foot = 0.037037 cubic yard

25 cubic feet = 0.037037 × 25 cubic yard

25 cubic feet = 0.925926 cubic yards

Problem 4: Convert 0.78 cubic feet into cubic yards.

Solution:

We know,

1 cubic foot = 0.037037 cubic yard

0.78 cubic feet = 0.037037 × 0.78 cubic yard

0.78 cubic feet = 0.028889 cubic yards

Problem 5: Convert 0.91 cubic feet into cubic yards.

Solution:

We know,

1 cubic foot = 0.037037 cubic yard

0.91 cubic feet = 0.037037 × 0.91 cubic yard

0.91 cubic feet = 0.033704 cubic yards

Problem 6: Convert 5.74 cubic feet into cubic yards.

Solution:

We know,

1 cubic foot = 0.037037 cubic yard

5.74 cubic feet = 0.037037 × 5.74 cubic yard

5.74 cubic feet = 0.212593 cubic yards

Problem 7: Convert 280 cubic feet into cubic yards.
